Sam Williams and I met on Facebook’s “Sober Tribe Vibes recovery and support group.”Sam was sober until she relapsed in September 2021 but she got back up to get back on track. Sam is currently taking classes to be a peer support specialist.Let’s hear Sam’s story.
On this episode, we chat about:

- Fear of relapsing from recovery.
- Overcoming guilt and shame, through therapy and self work.
- Being a peer support specialist because Sam cares about serving others.
- Applying compassion and empathy in our work with others.

- Cutting off old friends who use drugs, in other to stay sober.
- Sobriety can be/feel lonely.
- Making amends with old friends that we hurt and making up for lost time.
- Addiction and using drugs, make someone do things that are out of character.

- Self love.
- We can not provide for or help EVERYONE, but we can stir them in the right directions for proper support and resources.
- Using drug to stay in a bad relationship or friendship. Not worth it.
- Lack of support, trauma, learned behavior can contribute to drug addiction.

- Living for your children. Protecting your children from repeating our own mistakes as parents.
- Getting over the stigma of seeing a therapist.
- Share your experiences as support to others and let them know that they are not alone.
- People need to take a mental health break.
